Discovery of the Calanques by hiking

Description

I propose you to go hiking to discover the National Park of the Calanques located between Marseille and Cassis!

You will explore these small wild creeks with turquoise water, admire their impressive white limestone cliffs and their green pine forests. You will also discover the fabulous Frioul Islands and visit Marseille, a city full of character. And what would Marseille be without its inhabitants? This trip will also be an opportunity to meet the locals who are so proud of their traditions for an exciting exchange...

In short, you will live a trip between land and sea that will certainly make you want to come back!

Program

D1: Visit of Marseille.
We meet at 2pm at the reception of the hotel on the Old Port.
After having met all together, you will visit the old city with the unavoidable old port or the "panier" district, the oldest district of Marseille. You will quickly fall under the spell of its colorful facades, its timeless alleys and its omnipresent street art. In the evening, you will meet a restaurant owner who is passionate about the city and have dinner in his restaurant.

D2: Hike in the Calanques of Marseille.
In the morning, starting from the Luminy forest, you will explore on foot the creeks of Sormiou, Morgiou or Sugiton. All of them are made up of magnificent creeks bordered by translucent water with a thousand shades of blue. You evolve in the middle of pine forests and benefit from superb panoramas on the impressive cliffs which plunge into the sea. This hike takes place in an enchanting setting that is certainly one of the most beautiful places in France! At the end of the day, after having strolled in the alleys of the city, you will enjoy a small aperitif on the port.
Positive altitude difference: 600 meters, negative altitude difference: 450 meters, 5.5 hours of walking.

D3: The islands of If and Frioul.
In the morning, you will board the boat and head for the islands of If castle. You will take the time to visit it and to discover the fantastic history of its famous prisoners. Then you continue your navigation to the Frioul Islands, located off the coast of Marseille. You will explore on foot this archipelago composed of four islands and will be amazed by its wild nature and its heavenly creeks. In the evening you will have dinner in a typical restaurant of the city.
D+: 100m, D-: 100m, 4.5 hours of walking.

D4: The blue coast.
The day starts in the train to reach the port of La Redonne. You then leave on the customs path which overhangs the sea and offers you magnificent views of the harbor of Marseille, as well as beaches suitable for swimming in the turquoise Mediterranean waters. During the day you will reach the village of Niolon, clinging to its hills, and then you will leave by train. For your last dinner you will go to one of the most famous gastronomic restaurants of Marseille, to taste the famous bouillabaisse.
D+: 400m, D-: 500m, 5 hours of walking.

D5: Walk on the quays of Marseille.
Today, you will walk on the quays of the city with the visit of the famous Mucem and its incredible architecture, but also of the Cosquer cave, prehistoric relic of the ancient settlement of the calanques.
