Canyoning in the "Gorges du Diable" (Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert)

Description

Located close to the magnificent village of Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, the Diable gorges canyon offers an aquatic course in the narrowest part of the Hérault gorges.

These gorges offer a spectacular landscape of steep cliffs, crystal-clear waters and waterfalls. I suggest you explore them by canyoning, an activity that involves descending canyons using a variety of techniques including hiking, swimming, jumping, climbing and abseiling. It's a unique way to discover these incredible landscapes.

In the heart of Languedoc-Roussillon in the south of France, adventure sports enthusiasts are in for a thrilling experience. Indeed, while this canyon is perfect for an initiation and a first approach to the activity, you'll also experience some sensations.

The course features dozens of jumps, from 1 to 10 meters high but never mandatory, a zip line, an abseil and a few other surprises.

The activity is open to children aged 7 and over. Discounts are available for groups of 4 or more. It's important to follow safety instructions and be in good physical condition to fully enjoy this canyon in the "Gorges du Diable".

I also suggest other canyoning descents in the region: the Rec Grand and Albès canyons in the Caroux massif to the west, and the "ravin des Arcs" canyon to the east.

Program

• Meet in Saint-Jean-de-Fos, about 45 minutes drive from Montpellier.
• 15 minutes for equipment, approach walk and briefing.
• 2 hours an a half for the canyoning descent.
• 15 minutes return walk and de-equipping.
• A total of 3 hours of activity on average.

The price includes

• Supervision by the experienced canyoning instructor.
• Quality equipment necessary for the practice of the activity (neoprene wetsuit, helmet, safety harness, lanyards, etc.).

The price does not include

• Transport to and from Saint-Jean-de-Fos.
• Swimsuit, shoes and socks.
• Snacks.
