Description
Located in the Bérard valley above the village of Vallorcine in Haute Savoie, the Bérard valley waterfall via ferrata is relatively easy to climb and allows you to discover the activity above the river, from May to October.
The via ferrata of the Bérard valley waterfall is fun, sporty, not too strenuous and takes place in a magnificent and spectacular environment! The route ascends and traverses from right to left, beginning with a large monkey bridge. There are also several bridges and beams, crossing over the river and a few steep passages (vertical but never overhanging).
The itinerary begins with a torrent crossing, followed by a steep 70-meter section on the rock. A few beams and footbridges quickly follow, interspersed with passages on the cliff, before crossing the torrent again several times on monkey bridges until you reach the exit. All along the way, you can enjoy views of the surrounding mountains and the refreshing spray of the waterfall. You have guessed it: this via ferrata on the Bérard waterfall is perfectly suited to hot summer days.
The return journey is easily made on foot, on the same hiking trail as the ascent.
If you are looking for more vertical adventures, I suggest two other nearby routes in the valley: the Curalla via ferrata in Passy and the thermal park via ferrata in Saint-Gervais. You can also try your hand at climbing in Chamonix or experience a unique evening suspended in the cliff of La Duchère in Les Contamines.
Program
- Meet at the Le Buet parking lot in Vallorcine, a 30-minute drive from Chamonix.
The parking lot is also accessible by train from Le Fayet (and the Chamonix valley) at the "Le Buet" stop. - 15-minute approach walking from the Buet parking lot to the start of the via.
- Approximately 1 hour to climb the via ferrata.
- Approximately 15 minutes' walk down to the parking lot.

- Loan of safety equipment necessary for the practice of the activity (harness, helmet, via ferrata lanyard with energy absorber, etc.).
