Description

I propose you to join me on this beautiful trek to explore the holy lake of Gosainkunda and many other lakes. Situated just north of Kathmandu, it is a short yet amazing trek that takes you up in the mountains within a couple of days.

The Gosainkunda lake trek is more than just a trek, it is a wonderful journey of adventure and natural, cultural, and spiritual discovery. The trek takes us to the holy lakes such as Gosainkunda, Bhairav Kunda, Surya Kunda, Ganesh Kunda, Saraswati Kunda, and many more which are the source of the Trishuli River. These lakes hold high spiritual values for the followers of many beliefs such as the Hindus, Buddhists, Shamans, and Nature Worshippers.

Every year, numerous festivals are celebrated here. Among them, one of the major festivals is the Janai Purnima, celebrated on the full moon day of Bhadra month (mid-August) by the devotees of Hindus and Shamans. Trekking around that time is a marvelous opportunity to witness and experience the unique rituals and ceremonies firsthand.

Apart from the rich spiritual aspects, the Gosainkunda lake trek is an absolute adventure filled with natural and cultural wonders. The trek passes through enchanting forests of pine and rhododendrons while playing hide and seek with the majestic view of Himalayan ranges like Langtang and Ganesh Himal. You will be also walk through the lovely villages of the Tamang and Hyolmo communities.

If you would like to make it a bit more challenging, you can add the ascent of Surya Peak (5145 meters). It is a rocky peak located east of the Gosainkunda lake

  • A short and beautiful trek to the holy lakes.
  • Stunning views of Ganesh Himal, Paldor Peak, Langtang Range, Dorje Lakpa, Rolwaling, and many more.
