Gourmet snowshoeing and heritage in Albiez (Maurienne)

Description

With the FACIM foundation, I invite you to discover mountain agriculture for a late afternoon in the Maurienne valley. As a family, a couple or a group of friends, you will enjoy a snowshoe hike at your own pace, in an area with an exceptional sunset panorama, offering superb photo opportunities with the play of light and shadow on the surrounding mountains.

The "Société d'Économie Alpestre" and the "Syndicat du Beaufort" are partners in this hike to discover Savoie's rich mountain farming heritage.

You will discover Albiez and the surrounding resorts and massifs, learn to read the landscape and listen to the story of the mountain agriculture that makes our environment so pleasant to contemplate.

A hot snack is offered during the hike, as well as a tasting of Beaufort produced with Albiez's excellent grass and flowers.

At the end of the hike, you will visit a farm where the cows are milked, giving you a good insight into the life of the farmer who produces the milk used to make Beaufort.

This hike is suitable for the whole family.

Program

• The hike takes place every Thursday during the winter season.
• Bring your own snowshoes and hiking poles, or rent them from a sports store 50 or 150 meters from the meeting point.
• 4.30pm: Meet at Chemin de la Praz in Le Mollard.
• Snowshoe hike.
• Visit the milking farm, meet the farmer and taste Beaufort and freshly milked milk.
• You can try your hand at milking a cow.
• 7.30pm: End of snowshoe hike.

The price includes

• Supervision by the mountain leader, a Savoie Mont Blanc heritage guide with a passion for mountain agriculture and agro-pastoralism. Also a referent for the Savoie cheese route and grandson of one of the first three directors of the Vallée des Arves dairy cooperative.
• Milk and Beaufort tasting.

The price does not include

• Transport to the meeting point in Albiez-Montrond.
• Transfer to the site where the activity takes place.
• Your personal hiking equipment, snowshoes and poles.
• Snacks.
• All drinks.
• Anything not mentioned in "The price includes".
