Description

Join me on a tour of the magnificent full canyon of Bras Rouge, in the heart of the cirque of Cilaos.

After an approach walk of around 45 minutes, we will enter the first part of the Bras Rouge canyon via a dizzying via corda followed by 2 abseils of around 20 meters. You will then enjoy a beautiful and varied introductory itinerary with abseiling under waterfalls, jumps, slides, swimming, hiking... all in an exceptional setting with a breathtaking view of the Col du Taïbit and the famous 3 Salazes...

Then it's time to tackle the second part, and it's going to be a different kettle of fish: we will be doing a series of abseils that are much more technical and wet, and a few jumps (5 to 10 meters high) also technical for the more daring. The descent ends with an exceptional toboggan, which can be done at will, and a steep 30-minute uphill return walk.

It is a sporting and impressive outing not to be underestimated... enthusiasts beware!

This complete descent of the Bras Rouge canyon is accessible from the age of 16 to anyone capable of walking for an hour on a steep ascent and without insurmountable vertigo.

If you are in the mood for other long, magnificent canyoning trips on Réunion Island, I would also recommend a full descent of the nearby Fleurs Jaunes canyon (also available in its classic version) or the Trou Blanc canyon in Salazie. And beginners can opt for an introduction to canyoning in the Langevin river.

Program

Meet in the town of Cilaos.
Equipped with neoprene wetsuits and safety gear.
45-minute approach walk to the start.
About 4 hours down the canyon.
Steep return walk of 20 minutes to the parking lot.
