Infos & BookingDescription
I invite you to join me every Tuesday and Saturday in winter for group freeride skiing in the Aravis ski resorts!
Do you love skiing and the great outdoors? Want to get away from the crowded pistes?
From January to March, I organize group off-piste / freeride ski outings every Tuesday and Sunday to explore hidden combes and couloirs together, and share some great skiing moments.
These outings are aimed at experienced skiers who are comfortable in all types of snow. They take place in the Haute-Savoie ski resorts of Le Grand-Bornand, La Clusaz or Manigod.
Program:
- Learn the safety rules for freeride skiing.
- Perfect your skiing technique in all types of snow.
- Learn to use safety equipment and avalanche search techniques.
- Choose an itinerary suited to your level and avalanche risks.
Equipment to bring:
- Your ski or ski touring equipment (I will inform you before departure).
- A 20 to 30-liter backpack.
- Clothing suitable for winter mountain sports.
- Snacks and drinks for the day.
To sum up:
📅 When: every Tuesday and Saturday in winter.
📍 Where: the ski resorts of Le Grand-Bornand, La Clusaz or Manigod.
⏰ Departure: meet at 8.15am at Espace Cœur des vallées in Thônes or at 8.45am directly on site.
Depending on my availability, I may be replaced by a fellow mountain guide from the Compagnie des Guides des Aravis.
You can also follow me throughout the winter for:
- a group ski touring outing in the Bornes or Aravis mountains,
- ski touring at sunset in the Aravis massif,
- and avalanche search training in the Bornes or Aravis.
Program
- Meet at 8.15am at the "Espace Cœur des Vallées" in Thônes to carpool, or meet at 8.45am directly on site (check with me depending on conditions).
- Depending on conditions, I may advise you to bring your ski touring equipment.
- Checking of everyone's equipment and safety briefing.
Together we study the avalanche bulletin and discuss the itineraries we are planning. - Thanks to the ski lifts, the summits are quickly reached, allowing us to start with a warm-up descent. Depending on conditions on the ground, we adapt our itineraries to maximize skiing pleasure while minimizing avalanche risk.
- To reach hidden couloirs and combes, it will often be necessary to walk and carry skis on the pack, with vertical drops ranging from 100 to 200 meters. Lighter ski touring equipment can be an asset for these journeys, but in any case, good physical condition is essential.
- The return to the parking lot is scheduled for 12.30 / 1pm.
The price includes
- Supervision by the mountain guide.
- Loan of safety equipment (avalanche beacon, shovel, probe).
The price does not include
- Transport to and from the start of the hike.
- Technical ski equipment.
- Ski pass.
- Accommodation if required.
- Snacks / meals.
- Drinks.
- Civil liability insurance.
- Anything not mentioned in "The price includes".
As freeride skiing is an activity that involves a degree of random risk, we strongly advise you to take out:
- Holiday cancellation insurance if you are on vacation.
- Daily indemnity insurance if you are self-employed.
- An insurance policy tailored to your social and family situation.
