Avalanche research training (Bornes, Aravis)

Description

I invite you to join me in the Bornes and Aravis mountains, every Thursday and Sunday in winter for an avalanche search training!

From January to March, I organize some avalanche search training courses. These outings are aimed at ski touring and/or off-piste skiing enthusiasts, whether beginners or already familiar with the discipline.

The program includes:

• (Re)discovering avalanche search equipment (avalanche beacon, shovel, probe).
• Learn avalanche search methodology.
• Practice on your own and/or in a search group.

Equipment to bring:

• Your own ski touring equipment (rental available if required).
• A 20 to 30-liter backpack.
• Clothing suitable for winter mountain sports.

To sum up:
📅 When: Every Thursday and Sunday in winter.
📍 Where: Bornes and Aravis massifs.
⏰ Departure: meet at 2.30pm directly on site.

Depending on my availability, I may be replaced by a fellow mountain guide from the Compagnie des Guides des Aravis.

You can also follow me throughout the winter for:

• a group ski touring outing in the Bornes or Aravis mountains,
• a sunset ski tour in the Aravis massif,
• and freeride skiing in the Aravis resorts.

Program

• Meet at 2.30pm on site (I will let you know the exact meeting place).
• Theoretical briefing (15 minutes).
• Use of shovel and probe (15 minutes).
• Search methodology and practice (1 hour).
• Group search methodology and practice (1h15).
• Debriefing (15 minutes).

The price includes

• Supervision by the mountain guide.
• Loan of safety equipment (avalanche beacon, shovel, probe).

The price does not include

• Transport to and from the start of the hike.
• Technical ski equipment.
• Accommodation if required.
• Snacks.
• Drinks.
• Civil liability insurance.
• Anything not mentioned in "The price includes".
