Description
800 meters long, 40 meters wide and just as high under the ceiling: these are the imposing features of the Chevalier cave. Littered with boulders, it's easy to navigate all the way to its end, 160 meters below the entrance.
In the heart of the Dent de Crolles, the Chevalier cave is a major underground walk and a great introduction to caving, where you can progress without the need for ropes, in the inner, silent immensity of the mountain. It will delight all those who wish to discover the underground world, including children aged 10 and over, for whom this day-long adventure will remain unforgettable.
The approach and return walks are also an opportunity to explore a vertiginous but secured trail in the Chartreuse massif, with magnificent views over the Grésivaudan valley, the nearby Belledonne massif and Mont Blanc in the distance.
If you would like to try your hand at this activity, I would also suggest exploring the Dent de Crolles in the Glaz loop, the astonishing Annette cave and the sources of the Guiers Mort. And if you want to go a little further, why not take on the more technical caving route of the Elisabeth waterfall, the long Solitaire gallery or the magnificent Glaz via the Ogive.
