Infos & BookingDescription
When the cold persists, streams and waterfalls freeze and invite us into their icy meanders.
In the heart of the Queyras massif, the valleys of Ceillac, Saint-Véran and Abriès offer a multitude of icefalls for beginners and advanced climbers.
Let yourself be tempted by a day of discovery of this activity on the spot best suited to your level, from easy ruisseling (going up a stream with short jumps), to more or less vertical icefalls.
This session will introduce you to the specific equipment required for ice climbing (ice axes, crampons, ice screws, etc.). I will show you the right techniques and the most appropriate and efficient way to climb these ephemeral ice structures with minimum fatigue. Of course, you will be able to practice to get the feel for it and progress.
Here are some examples of places we can go:
- The Aiguilles semi-artificial waterfall: Artificially fed with water, this structure offers numerous lines of all difficulties, including dry tooling routes for amateurs.
- Le rif Lamaron: In the valley of the beautiful and picturesque village of Saint-Véran lies this easy but very aesthetic route. Easy ice jumps alternate with snow slopes for a beautiful adventure of moderate difficulty.
- Ceillac: Just a few minutes from the ski resort are several waterfalls of varying levels. The Y on the right and left, as well as Easy rider, are multi-pitch, affordable routes that are must-dos in their class.
- And lots more besides.
