Trekking: the balconies of Maurienne (Savoie)

Description

I propose you a trekking route in the heart of the Vanoise National Park in Savoie. This 5-day hiking overlooking the Maurienne valley allows you to evolve almost permanently at more than 2000 meters of altitude, in a wonderful setting, that of the glaciers of the Vanoise.

Ibex, chamois, marmots at the turn of the trail, eagles, vultures in the air, are part of the many wildlife of this preserved area. Mountain lakes are also present all along the route.

This itinérary gives a permanent view of the surrounding peaks, those of the Vanoise, of the Thabor massif and of the mountains neighboring Italy.

Some variations make it possible to escape sometimes from the main path for other discoveries.

If you like trekking for several days, I also propose other hiking itineraries in Savoie: the high route of Vanoise trekking, the tour of the Mont-Cenis lake in Maurienne, a trekking from Étendard to the Aiguilles d'Arves, and, a little further south, the magnificent tour of the Aiguilles de Chambeyron in Ubaye and a hiking weekend in Piedmont.

Program

D1 : Plan d'Amont (Aussois) - Dent Parrachée hut - Génépy lake.
Meet in Aussois, about an hour and a quarter's drive from Chambéry or Albertville.
Climb up to the Dent Parrachée hut, where we will spend the night, then take an easy hike to the pretty Lac du Génépy.

D2 : Dent Parrachée hut - Arpont hut.
Crossing on a magnificent balcony path that offers a grandiose panorama at the foot of the Dent Parrachée and of the Arpont and Chasseforêt Domes.

D3 : Arpont hut - Plan du Lac -  Bellecombe Inn.
Another balcony trail today, as magnificent as ever, via the Lozières lakes, then a good descent before climbing back up to the Plan du Lac and the Bellecombe inn. The view is spectacular over the impressive south face of Grande Casse, the highest peak in the Savoie department at 3855 meters.

D4 : Plan du Lac hut - Vallonbrun hut.
Another beautiful hike on a balcony path, facing the Mont Cenis mountain range and overlooking Haute-Maurienne villages (Termignon, Lanslebourg, Lanslevillard) and high peaks such as the Grand Roc Noir.
Overnight at the Vallonbrun hut.

D5 : Vallonbrun - Lanslevillard hut.
This last stage, which changes slope, takes us from the adret to the ubac and back to the Val-Cenis forests.
Return to Aussois by cab.
