Discover mountaineering in the Aosta valley

Description

I propose you to go for two beautiful days in the mountains of the Aosta valley in Italy to discover if mountaineering is an activity you like.

During this course, you will have the opportunity to try walking on a snowy glacier, with and without crampons on your feet, and to climb a via ferrata on a rocky cliff.

I will teach you the technical notions necessary to progress safely on a glacier and on a via ferrata. After that, you will know if mountaineering is an activity you like and if you want to renew the experience.

Objectives of the course:

• Try walking with and without crampons on a snowy glacier.
• Try roped-up evolution on a glacier.
• Try roped-up evolution and the adapted safety technics on  via ferrata sections.

If you wish to continue your learning in the mountaineering activity, I advise you to follow me on the following courses:

• First steps in mountaineering in the Mont-Blanc and Mont-Rose massifs.
• Advanced mountaineering course in the Aosta valley.

Program

D1: Walking on a snow-covered glacier with and without crampons.
Meeting at 8.30 am at the scheduled place.
The aim of this day is to understand your skills for mountaineering and especially if you like it. We walk roped-up on a glacier to go to different panoramic passes of the Mont-Blanc massif in order to discover the incredible beauties of the high mountains.
About 3 to 5 hours of walking depending on your training.
Finally, we will conclude the day and schedule the next one.

D2: Technical hike in medium altitude mountain with sections of via ferrata.
Meeting at 8.30 am at the schedulded place.
About 3 to 5 hours of walking depending on your training.
If the weather or the conditions are unfavourable, the day will be dedicated to specific training on a via ferrata in the Aosta valley.
Around 3pm, at the end of the day, we will make an assessment of the course.

The price includes

• Supervision by the mountain guide.

• Transport to and from Aosta valley.
• Transfers by vehicle during the two days.
• Ski pass.
• Hals board accomodation (overnight, dinner, breakfast).
• Picnics.
