Queyras tour by electric mountain bike (Hautes-Alpes)

Description

The tour of the Queyras massif by electric mountain bike is one of the musts of our region.

Most often done by hiking, it is now accessible through electric mountain bike, if having a minimum of technical background to fully enjoy the adventure.

We thought about the best route, in terms of quality of trails and landscapes in order to have no portage, or areas too brittle on the bike. The result is a complete Queyras tour, including a large number of variations depending on the level of the group, with always one goal: to show you the best areas of our playground!

During your week, you will take some of the most beautiful singles of the massif, cross spectacular mountain landscapes, discover the old villages of Queyras and the atmosphere of larch forests... in one word the unmissable of Queyras!

Program

D1: Mont-Dauphin - Ceillac.
Departure from the Glacier Bleu lodge in Mont-Dauphin after lunch. We take a moment to explain the functioning of equipment and then go for a week to discover the Queyras massif...

D2: Ceillac - Aigues valley.
After a first day test, you're in the heart of the matter. You start the day with a somewhat technical climb but largely facilitated by the electric assistance, which will give me a good opportunity to distill the first technical advice on motor skills and uphill turns. Arrived at the Col du Fromage, you can only take the time to admire the exceptional panorama that is offered to you. Then comes a great path very playful between larches, remarkable geological areas and pastures, to reach a second pass and a new point of view on the whole park of Queyras. Descent by the route of our choice towards Saint-Véran for the second part of the day.

D3: Aigues valley - Blanche circus - Abries - Haut Guil valley.
Departure towards the vallon de la Blanche for this third day. You enjoy the alpine atmosphere that can remind some Mongolia, before descending into the valley. Several possibilities to join Abriès, but we privilege on this circuit the rolling forest singles with the steep and brittle slopes of High Queyras. This gives you the opportunity to observe the typical architecture of the villages of Molines and Saint-Véran, to ride on ancient irrigation canals to take full advantage of the landscape, to cross isolated forests dedicated to mountain biking, before joining Abriès to explore the valley of Haut Guil. Two options for the afternoon: rest or a few hours of personalized advice to refine your technique and gain confidence on your MTB. We leave in this case towards the valley of Valpreveyre to catch up with the trails of the Abriès resort.

D4: Abriès - Arvieux.
Let's go for a great crossing towards the valley of Arvieux. The goal is to join a beautiful path south-facing balcony that will allow you to gain height and join Arvieux through the heights of Meyries, the small hamlet of Souliers, Lac de Roue, the Grand Canal... small steep section will surely require to go on pushing the bike but your guide will be there to help you overcome this difficulty! A good day in perspective…

D5: Arvieux - Mont-Dauphin.
Last day of your tour and a beautiful ending! We embark on the ascent of the Furfande pass to reach the alpine pastures of the same name, overlooking the Gorges du Guil. A site of great quality for hiking or cycling, an essential sector that you are lucky to find on your way back if you want to take the direction of Mont-Dauphin. The climb takes place easily thanks to the electric assistance and the descent over the gorges by the alpine pastures should mark your memories since you take a portion of the mountain bike great crossing of the Hautes-Alpes... Arrival in Mont-Dauphin planned at the end of afternoon.

The price does not include

• Transport to and from our bike center in Mont-Dauphin, 30 minutes drive from Briançon and one hour from Gap.
• Rental of the electric mountain bike: 150€ for the week for a semi-rigid or double suspension bike.
• Cancellation insurance.
• Tourist tax.
• Insurance costs for search and rescue / assistance repatriation (1%).
• Helmet which is mandatory (included if you rent the bike).
