I suggest you discover Langtang Park, located 30 kilometers north of Kathmandu and stretching all the way to the Tibetan border. With a total area of 1710km2, it includes the sources of two rivers and several peaks around 7000 meters high.
This region offers a wide variety of animal and plant species, and a large geographical, geological and climatic diversity. The subtropical forest below 1000 meters changes with pine, rhododendron, and larch forests above.
Some 45 Sherpa villages make up this massif with very different ethnic origins but mostly represented by Tamangs from Tibet.
Highlights of the trek:
- The panorama on more than 7000 meters high mountains such as Langtang Lirung (7200m), Ganesh Himal (7600m) and Langtang-II (7227m).
- Splendid views on the snowy peaks, passes and lakes of the Himalayas: Tserko Ri (5033m), Kyanjin Ri, Ganchhenpo (6388m), Dorje Lakpa (6990m), Laurebinayak pass (4609), Gosaikund sacred lakes.
- More than 100 species of plants, 150 species of birds and many mammals.
