Gorges of Ailefroide via ferrata (Hautes-Alpes)

Description

I'm offering you the chance to spend half a day with family and friends on a refreshing and safe via ferrata in the heart of the Écrins massif.

The via ferrata of the Gorges d'Ailefroide in Pelvoux / Les Claux, in the Hautes-Alpes, is perfect to discover the activity. The course is specially adapted to children (from 8 years old), in a magnificent and deep gorge, above the bubbling waters of the Ailefroide torrent, with a very easy access and a second more difficult part for the most daring.

The via ferrata has three distinct parts with progressive difficulties:

• The first one, easy and playful, is therefore perfectly suitable for children or for people who want to discover the activity. After a section above the tunnel, a cable bridge crosses a combe along the road. Three footbridges follow, allowing you to go from one bank of the torrent to the other, as well as horizontal crossings.
• The second part, more athletic and physical, continues to go up the gorges via a cable bridge which precedes a slightly overhanging crossing. Natural passages made of large boulders allow us to cross the torrent again and alternate with steeper sections on the rock. This more impressive part takes place in an exceptional atmosphere.
• The third part, avoidable and short, is more difficult. The route gets higher and becomes more vertiginous, and requires the crossing of two overhanging passages before exiting and finishing at the top of the gorge.

• Half-day via ferrata, in the morning or in the afternoon according to yours desires.
• Departure from 3 people registered.
• Appointment in L'Argentière-la-Bessée or on the spot in Pelvoux according to your origin.
• We equip ourselves, and go ahead for 3 hours of activity over the waters of the Ailefroide torrent.
• Very easy return by walking.

The price includes

• Supervision by the mountain guide.
• Loan of via ferrata equipment: harness, via ferrata lanyards with energy absorber, helmet, rope, etc.
• Safety equipment: radio, first aid kit, etc.

The price does not include

• Transport to and from L'Argentière-la-Bessée or the via ferrata parking lot in Pelvoux.
• Snacks.
• Drinks.
