Gourg des Anelles canyon (Eastern Pyrenees)

Description

The sport canyon of Gourg des Anelles in Céret, Eastern Pyrenees is an intermediate level canyon, ideal to get acquainted with the multiple facets of the canyoning activity.

It is a beautiful canyon, rich and diversified, for an active day with family or friends. It is recognized as one of the most beautiful canyons in Catalonia.

After a fifteen minute walk through the vegetation of broom, heather and cades, you arrive at the beginning of the canyoning descent and it's time to get equipped. A handrail (cable) takes you safely to the first rappel of more than 25 meters. It is the biggest and most impressive of the course.

After crossing a magnificent basin and descending a small abseil of 5 meters followed by a slide, you enter the most beautiful and narrow part of the gorge. In the middle of the gorge, you can make jumps of 3 and 8 meters, still not mandatory. You continue the adventure through two other slides and swim in a splendid deep basin to discover the second abseil of 3 meters, with a small jump of 4 meters possible. A small slide follows which leads to a beautiful basin and a pebble beach.

The fun continues with a 6 meter jump or an abseil-toboggan to land in a suspended basin before the last abseil with sensations: little rope and a lot of sliding. At the end you can have fun jumping and doing tricks from the natural diving board of 4 to 5 meters. The walk continues in the river and you pass under huge chaos of boulders (cave), with a last basin to cross. All that remains is to change before starting a short climb back to the parking lot.

For more comfort and conviviality, the outing is done in small groups of 8 persons maximum.

• the Llech canyon at the foot of the Canigou,

Program

• Meeting point in Céret, about 30 minutes drive from Perpignan.
• Discovery of the equipment.
• 15 minutes walk to the start of the canyon.
• Approximately 3 hours of descent, with learning of the safety techniques.
• 20 minutes walk back to the parking lot.
