Infos & BookingDescription
Come and discover the beautiful P'tchi via ferrata, located in Savoie, above the village of Saint-Jean-d'Arvey in the Bauges massif.
This itinerary offers a succession of vertiginous and slightly athletic passages with portions where you can rest... All along the route, which follows the cliffs of the Rocher de Charvettan, you will enjoy breathtaking views on Chambéry and the Mont Granier.
A pleasant approach walk in the undergrowth brings you in about an hour to the start of the P'tchi via ferrata. The route starts with a first 20 meters high vertical wall, followed by a second wall which precedes a quite vertiginous crossing to the right. Overhanging sections and a 10 meter dihedral allow you to reach a wide and comfortable grassy ledge. Then follows a long traverse to the left where technical and physical passages alternate with more relaxing ones. You then reach, thanks to an impressive ladder, the curiosity of the via: "l’œil à Carret" (Carret's eye), a cavity in the rock, in which it is possible to rest and enjoy the exceptional panorama. The following vertiginous and overhanging passages arrive at the footbridge of the Sappey, more than 30 meters long (not mandatory, as an escape route allows to finish the course more easily). You have then the choice to continue on the P'tchi route, with two balance beams and a last delicate and athletic wall, or turn to the Grotte à Carret via ferrata, rated ED (extremely difficult) and very vertiginous. All these variants end at the belvedere of the Charvettan rock, the end of the ascent.
I also offer other beautiful vertical routes, such as the urban via ferrata of the "prises de la Bastille" in Grenoble, Corps via ferrata above the Sautet dam, Cascade via ferrata above the Alpe du Grand Serre, the Roche Veyrand via ferrata in Chartreuse or, on the same cliff of the Charvettan rock, the difficult "grotte à Carret" via ferrata.
